Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young Named Sole Finalist for the Position of President Texas Southern University

The Texas Southern University Board of Regents have named Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young as the sole finalist for the position of President of Texas Southern University.

A publication on the Texas Southern University official website which was sign by Albert H. Myres, Sr. the school chairman reads:

"On behalf of the Board of Regents in a unified position, we have selected the sole finalist for the next President of Texas Southern University. This decision was reached after interviewing three highly qualified candidates. I want to thank Regent Marc Carter who chaired the Presidential Search Committee and its members for their thorough work on behalf of this great University. Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young is the sole finalist". 

The publication however says that a confirmation vote will be conducted by the Regents on June 17, 2021, when the next board meeting will hold while an announcement will be made regarding executive transition next week".

While commenting on the sole finalist, the publication says, "Dr. Crumpton-Young is an experienced University leader and tireless advocate for students. Her impeccable credentials made her standout among the candidates. She brings with her an exciting and bold vision for Texas Southern University that aligns with the goals set forth by the Board of Regents".

The Texas Southern university management therefore have named Regent Stephanie Nellons-Paige and Interim President Ken Huewitt to lead the transition team.
