Agricultural Engineers design, develop and maintain agricultural equipment, agricultural tools and all agricultural machinery such as storage facilities, milling machinery, harvesters, agricultural products processing machine, farm products transport equipment and more. 

Agricultural Engineering at Kwara State University (KWASU) is taught in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering with aim to produce graduates able to apply science, engineering and technology to the production of quality and quantity farm products and thereby enhance food and raw materials sustainability.

Agricultural Engineering at Kwara State University (KWASU) Faculty of Engineering and Technology usually lasted a minimum of five (5) years (10 semesters) leading to the award of BSc degree.

Listed below are the minimum entry requirements for admission to the undergraduate degree of the Agricultural Engineering at KWASU, including the direct entry, JAMB and WAEC subject combinations.


O'level/UTME Candidates

Five O'level credit passes at not more than two sittings from one or two of: 

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
  • NABTEB.

WAEC or O'Level Subjects Combination

Five O'level credit passes must be from:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Chemistry
  • Physics and one of
  • Biology
  • Technical Drawing
  • Further Mathematics
  • Agricultural Science
  • Geography
  • Economics or
  • Relevant Trade Subjects
O'level UTME candidates must sit for, passed and made JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and KWASU coordinated post-UTME cut off mark 

JAMB/UTME Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Entry Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

This following qualifications are accepted from the direct entry applicants:

  • GCE A'Level: good pass in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
  • IJMB A'Level: same.as above
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering disciplines and post ND industrial work experience.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): upper credit in relevant engineering disciplines after NYSC.
Holders of ND, HND (Lower Credit), GCE and IJMB A'Level are admitted to 200 level. While holders of HND and it equivalent but with Upper Credit are admitted to 300 level. 

Kwara State University (KWASU) conduct pre-degree programme which qualifies students to 100 level.

Direct Entry and pre-degree candidates must have five (5) O'level credit passes as stated above.
