The Department of Electrical Engineering at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) is training students to become qualified engineer in the field of designing, developing, troubleshooting and maintaining machines, tools and equipment which function by the use of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics.
Listed below is the minimum entry requirements accepted from O'level UTME and Direct Entry applicants to study the undergraduate Electrical Engineering. This include the WAEC and JAMB's subjects combination.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
O'level UTME Applicants
O'level credit passes in five subjects which include:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Physics and one of
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Geography
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Economics or
- One relevant trade subject.
The five subjects must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following examination qualifications:
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB
JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination
Secondary school or O'level students must sit for and pass JAMB coordinated UTME and UNIZIK coordinated post-UTME test making the cut off mark for the Department of Electrical Engineering.
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry
Direct Entry Applicants
Some of the higher qualifications accepted by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Akwa for direct entry admission processes including but not limited to:
- GCE A'Level: good pass in two A'Level subjects which must be Physics/Chemistry and Mathematics
- JUPEB: good grade in Physic, Chemistry and Advance Level Mathematics
- IJMB A'Level: good points enough to be considered for admission
- National Diploma (ND): Upper Credit in relevant engineering programme.
- Higher National Diploma (HND): lower or upper credit in relevant engineering programme.
All the qualifications mentioned above eligible the holders to 200 level but if an applicant present HND with upper credit he could be considered to 300 level of the Electrical Engineering.
Students can take advantage of the UNIZIK pre-Science programme which eligible participants to 100 level on successful completion of the study.
Note: all the above mentioned higher qualifications must include O'level result as stated above.
Electrical Engineering at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) is a five (5) years programme to those admitted to 100 level leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) honour degree.
It is accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
