Civil Engineering Entry Requirements Abia State Poly

Abia State Polytechnic, School of Engineering Technology only offers four programmes among which is Civil Engineering Technology.

The school applied hand-on work to teaching and learning, imparting their students with skills needed to excel as Civil Engineering technicians or technologist able to read infrastructural project plans, construct the plans and able to effectively manage those infrastructures after completion with little or no supervision.

Listed on the page are entry requirements to study ND and HND Civil Engineering Technology at School of Engineering Technology, Abia State Polytechnic. This include the WAEC O'level and JAMB subjects combination. 


ND Civil Engineering Entry Requirements 

Department of Civil Engineering, Abia State Polytechnic accept minimum of five (5) credit passes in the following O'level subjects: 


WAEC Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Physics
  • Chemistry and one of 
  • Technical Drawing
  • Geography 
  • Further Mathematics
  • Auto Mechanic 
  • Basic Electricity/Basic Electronics
  • Metal Work 
  • Economic/Commerce 
  • Biology/Agricultural Science


The five subjects must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following: 

  • West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
  • NABTEB
  • Abia State Polytechnic accept pre-ND result provided it meet minimum requirement. 


Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

An applicant to study Civil Engineering must make a satisfactory score in JAMB coordinated UTME and post-UTME screening for the Department of Civil Engineering, Abia State Polytechnic.

HND Civil Engineering Entry Requirements

  • All applicant for HND Civil Engineering must satisfy minimum entry requirement for ND programme as stated above.
  • National Diploma (ND): minimum of lower credit with CGPA not lesser than 2.50
  • Prove of completion of mandatory one (1) year post-ND industrial training.
  • ND with pass not lesser than CGPA 2.00 and with industrial work experience not lesser than two years.
  • Transcript from former school if an applicant  is not from Abia State Polytechnic.

Note: ND and HND Civil Engineering run for a minimum duration of two years (4 semesters) each and maximum duration of four (4) years (8 semesters)
