Mechanical Engineering Entry Requirements Delta State Poly OGWASHI-UKU

The Delta State Polytechnic is three (3) in numbers and that of  OGWASHI-UKU is one of them. They are all owned by the Delta State government. However the one at UZORO have been upgraded to a degree awarding institution.

The Delta State Polytechnic OGWASHI-UKU, is made up of four (4) schools one of which is the School of Engineering and Technology. 

The school parades nine departments, awarding ND and HND in nine different engineering disciplines including Mechanical Engineering Technology. 

Detailing on this page are the minimum entry requirements accepted to study for the ND and HND at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Delta State Polytechnic OGWASHI-UKU. This includes the WAEC and JAMB subjects combination.  


ND Mechanical Engineering Technology Entry Requirements

Five (5) O'level credit passes from the following subjects: 


WAEC Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language and one of

  • Biology/Agricultural Science
  • Technical Drawing,
  • Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity,
  • Auto Mechanics,
  • Metal Work,
  • Further Mathematics
  • Geography,
  • Economics/Commerce 


The five subjects must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following O'level examination qualifications. 

  • West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
  • NABTEB

An applicant for this programme must sit for, pass and make the required cut off mark for JAMB and post-UTME screening for the Department not Mechanical Engineering Technology, Delta State Polytechnic OGWASHI-UKU.

JAMB Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics 
  • English Language
  • Chemistry 
  • Physics/Technical Drawing and 



HND Mechanical Engineering entry Requirements

  • O'level results as stated for the ND above
  • Natiomal Diploma (ND) with at least lower credit 
  • Evidence of completion of mandatory post-ND industrial training. 
  • ND letter of admission or JAMB result for ND admission must be submitted.
  • Pass in ND result would be considered for admission but with nothing lesser than two (2) years industry work experience.
  • Transcript from former attended school. This is applicable to those coming from other polytechnics. 
Note: HND mechanical Engineering students are eligible to choose from two options which are: Power Plant  and  Manufacturing Production
