This programme is refers to as Mineral and Petroleum Engineering Technology. It form part of the six (6) engineering programmes on offer at the Auchi Polytechnic School of Engineering Technology which is devoted to developing leaders in various engineering disciplines through rigorous classroom teaching, research activities and provision of excellent laboratories facilities.

Mineral and Petroleum Engineering: ND Admission Requirements
Department of Mineral and Petroleum Engineering, Auchi Polytechnic accept minimum of five (5) credit passes at one sit or six (6) credit passes at not more than two sittings in the following O'level subjects for ND programme.
WAEC Subjects Combination

- Chemistry
- Physics and any one
- subject from:
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Technical Drawing
- Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity
- Auto Mechanics
- Metal Work
- Further Mathematics
- English Language,
- Geography,
- Economics/Commerce.
The five or six credit passes must be from one or two of the under listed O'level examination qualifications
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Physics
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Chemistry

HND Admission Requirements
Study for HND Mineral and Petroleum Engineering eligible students to choose one from the programme available two options:
- Geological Engineering Technology and
- Mining Engineering Technology
The entry requirements include:
- National Diploma (ND): minimum of lower credit from Auchi Polytechnic or from other NBTE accredited institution of learning.
- Evidence of participation in mandatory post-ND one year industrial training.
- Holders of pass in ND will be considered for admission but must have at least two years industry work experience.
- An applicant from other schools must submit academic transcript from his institution.
- Minimum of five (5) O'level credit passes as of the ND as stated above.
- JAMB admission letter to ND is required.
Note: ND and HND are each two years programme with a year break for industrial training in between.
