The Delta State Polytechnic is three (3) in numbers and that of OGWASHI-UKU is one of them. They are all owned by the Delta State government. However the one at UZORO have been upgraded to a degree awarding institution.
The Delta State Polytechnic OGWASHI-UKU, is made up of four (4) schools one of which is the School of Engineering and Technology.
The school parades nine departments, awarding ND and HND in nine different engineering disciplines including Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology.
The Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology is taught at just eleven (7) Nigerian polytechnics among which is Delta State Poly OGWASHI-UKU.

ND Welding and Fabrication Technology Entry Requirements
Five (5) O'level credit passes from the following subjects:

The five subjects must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following O'level examination qualifications.
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Chemistry
- Physics/Technical Drawing and
HND Welding and Fabrication Technology Entry Requirements
- O'level results as stated for the ND above
- Natiomal Diploma (ND) with at least lower credit
- Evidence of completion of mandatory post-ND industrial training.
- ND letter of admission or JAMB result for ND admission must be submitted.
- Pass in ND result would be considered for admission but with nothing lesser than two (2) years of industry work experience.
- Transcript from former attended school. This is applicable to those coming from other polytechnics.
