The Department of Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology University of Calabar (UNICAL) equipped students with skill that will be able to perform the above mentioned roles effectively in the industries.
Listed below are the minimum admission requirements accepted by the Department of Chemical Engineering to study for a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree. This in life for the O'level and Direct Entry applicants and the JaMB subjects combination.
Minimum Entry Requirements.
Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Calabar accept minimum of credit passes from five subjects which must include:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- English Language plus
- One other science subjects
The five subjects must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of:
- WASSCE
- NECO/SSCE
- GCE O'level and
- NABTEB
In addition to the above, an O'level applicant must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark for the JAMB coordinated UTME and for the Department post-UTME screening.
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and
- English Language
The subjects combination above is valid for the post UTME test if it should be conducted.
Direct Entry Minimum Admission Requirements
University of Calabar accept the following minimum qualifications to study Chemical Engineering.
- National Diploma (ND): minimum of upper credit
- JUPEB: good points in Physics Chemistry Mathematics
- GCE A/Level: at least three pass grades from Mathematics Physics and Chemistry
- Higher National Diploma (HND): minimum of lower credit.
- Plus O'level result as stated above.
Chemical Engineering at UNICAL is a five years course for those admitted to 100 level. The course is duly accredited by COREN and the NUC.
