Chemical Engineering and Entry Requirements | FUOtuoke

Learn about the minimum entry requirements accepted by the Department of Chemical Engineering, Federal University Otuoke (FUOtuoke) to 100 level of the programme. This include for the O'level and direct entry candidates plus the WAEC and JAMB subjects combination. 

Federal University Otuoke started teaching Chemical Engineering in 2016/17 academic session to raise engineers who are skill in applying engineering principles to convert raw materials to useful products. 

It take a minimum of five (5) years for those admitted to 100 level of the course to complete the study after which a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Chemical in Chemical Engineering is awarded to successful candidates.  


Admission Requirements (O'level Candidates) 

Minimum of O'level credit passes in five subjects which must include: Mathematics 
  • Physics
  • Mathematics 
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language and 
  • Any other science subject.
The five credit passes must not be more than at two sittings from one or two of the O'level qualification exams:

  • WASSCE 
  • NECO/SSCE
  • GCE O'level and 
  • NABTEB
O'level candidates must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark of JAMB's UTME and the Department of Chemical Engineering, Federal University Otuoke Post UTME test.

Chemistry 
English Language 

This subjects combination is same if you should write the post UTME test.


Direct Entry Admission

The Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Federal University Otuoke accept minimum of  
  • National Diploma (ND): minimum of lower credit in relevant engineering courses. 
  • Higher Nationality is Diploma (HND): minimum of lower credit. Holder of upper credit could be considered to 300 level. 
  • IJMB: FUOtuoke accept good scores/points in Mathematics Physics and Chemistry 
  • JUPEB: good points in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry 
  • GCE AL: good passes in at least two of Physics, Mathematics or  Chemistry. 
  • Plus credit passes in five  O'level subjects  
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) is awarded students at the end of the five (5) years study. 

The course is accredited by both the National University Commission (NUC) and Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria.
