The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUSOK) accept five (5) O'level credit passes in the following subjects:

- Chemistry
- English Language and one other science subject probably
- Technical Drawing
- Biology
- Further Mathematics
- Geography
- Agricultural Science
The five subjects must not be more than at two sittings from:
- WASSCE
- NECO/SSCE
- GCE O'level and
- NABTEB
JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME)
O'level applicants must write JAMB, make the required cut off mark and the cut off mark for the post UTME test (if should be conducted) for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UDUSOK.

- GCE Advance Level (A/L): at least credit passes in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry

- National Diploma (ND): upper credits in relevant engineering courses
- Higher National Diploma (HND): lower credit in relevant engineering courses.
Civil Engineering at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto is accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the COREN.
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering is awarded on the completion of the study.
