Federal University, Otuoke is teaching Oil and Gas Engineering to produce highly skill manpower that will coordinate many of the activities to drive the oil and gas industry in Nigeria, the institution being located in the heart of the country oil producing region.

With state of art laboratories, engineering workshops, conducive learning classrooms and highly experience tutors the Department of Petroleum and Gas, Faculty of Engineering, FUOTUOKE produces manpower with skill in petroleum exploration, production, refining and marketing.

Listed below are the minimum entry requirements to gain admission to study for Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Federal University Otuoke, (FUOTUOKE). This includes for the O'level and direct entry applicants plus the WAEC and JAMB subjects combination.


Admission Requirements (O'level Candidates) Department of Petroleum and Gas

The Department of Petroleum and Gas accepted minimum of O'level credit passes in five subjects which must include: 
  • Physics
  • Mathematics 
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language and 
  • Any other science subject.
The five credit passes must not be more than at two sittings from one or two of the listed O'level qualification exams:

  • WASSCE 
  • NECO/SSCE
  • GCE O'level and 
  • NABTEB
O'level candidates must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark of JAMB's UTME and for the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Federal University Otuoke Post UTME test.

JAMB Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language 

This subjects combination is same for post UTME test of it is conducted


Direct Entry Admission

The Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Federal University Otuoke accept minimum of  
  • National Diploma (ND): minimum of lower credit in relevant engineering courses. 
  • Higher Nationality is Diploma (HND): minimum of lower credit. Holder of upper credit could be considered to 300 level. 
  • IJMB: FUOtuoke accept good scores/points in Mathematics Physics and Chemistry 
  • JUPEB: good points in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry 
  • GCE AL: good passes in at least two of Physics, Mathematics or  Chemistry. 
  • Plus credit passes in five  O'level subjects  
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) is awarded students at the end of the five (5) years study. 

The course is accredited by both the National University Commission (NUC) and Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria.
