Chemical Engineering and Entry Requirements | AKSU

Chemical engineers jobs are in the food industry, chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, environmental protection agencies and in the education and research industry. 

The course is taught at the Department of Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) to produce skill graduates for the aforementioned industries to help on converting raw materials to useable finish products.

Five O'Level credit passes in:

  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Biology/Agricultural Science 
  • Economics 
  • Geography  

Not more than at two sitting from one or two of:  

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 
  • NECO/SSCE 
  • General Certificate of Education 

JAMB Coordinated UTME

An O'Level applicant must write and make cut off mark (180) for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and the for the Department of Chemical Engineering Screening, AKSU. 

JAMB Subjects Combination 

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • English Language  

Entry Requirements Direct Entry Applicants 

  • Advance Level (GCE or JUPEB or IJMB or HSC):  three passes in Mathematics, Physics and one other science subject. 
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering programmes. 
  • HND: lower credit in relevant engineering programmes plus.
  • O'Level result as stated above.
