Civil Engineering and Entry Requirements | AKSU

Civil Engineering is one of the six engineering courses on offered at the Faculty of Engineering, Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU. 

AKSU is a state government funded research institution located in Mkpat Enin, Akwa Ibom State, South South of Nigeria. It teaches Civil Engineering to locally raise skill manpower for the civil and construction engineering sector of the economy.

  • Duration: five (5) years those admitted to 100 level. Direct Entry four (4) or three (3) years.

WAEC Subjects Combination 

Five O'Level credit passes in: 
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry 
  • English Language and one of 
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Biology/Agricultural Science 
  • Economics 
  • Geography  

Not more than at two sitting from one or two of:  

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) 
  • NECO/SSCE 
  • General Certificate of Education 

JAMB Coordinated UTME

An O'Level applicant must write and make cut off mark (180) for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) and the for the Department of Civil Engineering Screening, AKSU. 

JAMB Subjects Combination 

  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • English Language  

Entry Requirements Direct Entry Applicants 

  • Advance Level (GCE or JUPEB or IJMB or HSC):  three passes in Mathematics, Physics and one other science subject. 
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering programmes. 
  • HND: lower credit in relevant engineering programmes plus.
  • O'Level result as stated above.
