Nigeria Maritime University is one of the many universities in Nigeria where a degree in Civil Engineering could be earned. It forms one of the five departments in the Faculty of Engineering.

Civil Engineering is taught  at Nigeria Maritime University to train engineers who are skill in the development, construction and maintenance of marine infrastructures (locks, dams and offshore platform and more) as well as land infrastructures.

O'Level Entry Requirements  

Five (5) ‘O’ level subjects at credit level not more than at two sittings 

WAEC Subjects Combination 

  • English Language 
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry and 
  • any other relevant science subject like 
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Further Mathematics 
  • Data Processing 
  • Biology 
  • Agricultural Science 

From one or two of the following qualification exams. 

  • WAEC, 
  • NECO and
  • NABTEB

JAMB Coordinated UTME 

O'Level applicants must make the cut off mark for JAMB coordinated UTME and the Department of Civil Engineering NMU. 

JAMB Subjects Combination  

  • Physics 
  • Chemistry 
  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 


Nigeria Maritime University Pre-Degree Programme 

Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) Pre-degree allow students who could not make admission through UTME  to facilitate entry to 100 level at the Department of Civil Engineering. 


Direct Entry Requirements Nigeria Maritime University (NMU)

Candidates who are applying for an admission through Direct Entry, must have one of the following qualifications. 
  • Advance Level (HSC/GCE/A'Level/IJMB/JUPEB): passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. 
  • National Diploma (ND) : upper credit in relevant engineering courses and
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 

O'Level and Pre-degree qualifications holders are admitted to 100 level while direct entry applicants are admitted to 200 level. HND and first degree holders are eligible to 300 level.
