Bachelor of Engineering Technology of Electrical Engineering is one of the offered programmes in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Central University of Technology (CUT). Other are Diploma of Engineering Technology, Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and of courses Higher Certificate in Renewable Energy Technology.
These programmes equipped students with knowledge in the design, development and application of electricity, electronics, electrostatics and electromagnetism in the area including power electronics, telecommunication, control systems and signal processing.

Admission Requirements
Candidates Matriculated Before and in 2007
- Physical Science: 50%
- Mathematics: 60%
- English Language: 50%
- Mathematical Literacy: not accepted
Candidates Matriculated in 2008 and After
- Physical Science: 50% -59%
- Mathematics: 60% - 69%
- English: 50% - 59%
The two minimum requirements above are required from a Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) holders and must come with a minimum score of 32 points on the CUT scoring scale.
Central University of Technology (CUT), South Africa also requires candidates to adhere to the general admission regulations for candidates who matriculated in 2008 or thereafter noting that Mathematical literacy will not accepted for the Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering.
Recognition of Prior Learning
However, hope is not lost for students who could not meet the minimum admission requirements as stated above, for the Recognition of Prior Learning(RPL) plus lower minimum admission requirements could be used on case-by-case situation.
National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Holders
CUT will select holders of National Certificate Vocational (NCV) base on the approved selection requirements by the senate strictly adhere to the general admission regulations for candidates who completed the N3, N4, N5 and N6 qualifications at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college.
