Northwestern College Set to Start New Engineering Program

Northwestern College is not leaving any stone unturned in it's bid to start a new engineering program comes 2024.

The new undergraduate engineering program will be launched after it might have received  appropriate regulator approval, expectedly fall next year.

A publication from Northwestern College stated that the program which aim to equipped students with basic engineering skills, will award Bachelor of Science (BSc)  degree in engineering while four fields of concentration being considered for a start are electrical, mechanical, civil and computer.

It was stated that the program will be designed in consultant with experts in the field and in conjunction with other institutions offering the program so as to be able to get ABET accreditation.

Being a Christian faith based institution, Northwestern College will try to balance the engineering education with the missionary beliefs, focusing on the hand on experience, stimulating students innovative and creating mind, equipping them with skills and knowledge needed to become  complete engineers.

The Northwestern College will collaborate with industries, both  local's and regional's for internship program for numerous hand-on learning experience the new program will offer, including but not limited to programming, 3D printing, machining, wooden bridge building, traffic simulation and geospatial analysis.

Presently, Northwestern is not offering engineering program of it own but in affiliation with Washington University in St. Louis. That mean a student will spend 3 years to study one of the liberal arts courses at Northwestern College, move on to Washington University in St. Louis to spend another two (2) years studying an engineering course of his choose thereby earning dual degree: a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern College and Bachelor of Engineering from the Washington University.

The engineering program that will start next year will stop this. Students will be able to earn an engineering degree from Northwestern College using a fewer number of years.
