The outgoing Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has approved renaming the famous Shehu Shagari College of Education to Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki College of Education.
The decision to have the name of this prestigious institution changes was arrived at the Sokoto State Executive Council meeting which was held May 17, 2023.
The college of education was among the eight (8) state-owned higher institutions of learning that were approved by the outgoing administration to have their names changed to honour and immortalized some of the state great men and women.
Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki was the 18th Sultan of Sokoto and renaming the college of education after him came at a time when he had been exonerated from the allegation which led to his deposition in 1998.
Shehu Shagari College of Education was formerly known as Advance Teachers College until 1995 and now it is Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki College of Education.
