The grant is part of the wider ARC's Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) programme which aim to fund 200 research projects with a $86,000,0000 budget.
The programme target early career researchers with expertise in the area of engineering, science and medicine and it is design to improve the Australian research and innovation capacity.
University of Tasmania grant of $444,000 will be channelled toward research projects to make us better understand the ice–ocean interactions and subglacial melting, and to reduce our uncertainties in projections of the Antarctic ocean’s contribution to global and regional sea-level rises.
A successful research project in this field of study with enable the Australian and the global policy makers to take proper steps in addressing the challenges that come with how climate change affect the ocean and rise in sea level.
