The ranking highlights the universities that are leading across the following disciplines: general engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and mechanical engineering.
Despite some Nigerian universities appear on the rankings, none is able to make top 500 in the world. This shows there is a lot of work to be done to shore up their performances.
What is surprising about this ranking is the universities that are usually on top in general ranking are at the middle and bottom of the table for engineering subjects. Two private universities are able to make the list.
The breakdown of the list also shows that among the ten universities in Nigeria that make the world best universities for engineering, two come from the North, two from the South East while six (6) universities come from the South West.
The following ten (10) universities are mentioned by the Times Higher Education world university rankings by subjects to be the best for engineering in Nigeria.
