The University of Texas, San Antonio (UTSA) has announced the re-accreditation of all it's six undergraduate engineering programs by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The programs which the ABET have just re-accredited are: Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

While the other engineering programs have been accredited and re-accredited on several occasions BS Chemical Engineering is just been accredited for the first time.

The program which is being offered by the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (Klesse College) just like any other engineering program, was launched in 2017 to fill the unmet needs in south Texas.

ABET accreditation seal on any program indicated the quality of such program in term of the facilities provided for the teaching and learning, the number and qualifications of faculty members among many other things and it also shows that the program satisfy all of the General Criteria for accreditation of Baccalaureate level programs.

Engineering certificate that carry  ABET accreditation are recognised by schools everywhere for admission for higher education, for securing job and for professional certification.

A publication by the UTSA says that the accreditation just earned will last for six (6) years, expiring in 2029.

The publication also state that the accreditation will enable the institution opportunity to networking with industry and it will go a long way in helping them attract competitive students for their programs.
