Private and Government Polytechnics, Ogun State, Nigeria

Ogun State have seven number of polytechnics. The numbers consist one federal polytechnic, five state polytechnics and just one private polytechnic.

The establishment of polytechnic in Ogun State started with the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, which was founded in 1979. Thereafter, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ifo and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic were founded almost the same time: between 1980 to 1983 during the regime of Governor Chief Olabisi Onabanjo.

The location polytechnic in Ogun State are well distributed throughout the state bringing each nearer to citizens of different regions of the state. One polytechnic is in Abeokuta, another ones in Ijebu-Igbo, Igbesa, Ifo, Ilaro, Sango Ota and Sapade.


The establishment of so many polytechnics in Ogun is to provide opportunities for as many as the state indigenes and non indigenes who so wish to be educated to be admitted.
