| The Collapsed Bridge Linked Classrooms To The Hostels Area |
The bridge which was constructed casually with iron rods and metals was said to have collapsed as a result of heavy downpour yesterday night to the early hours of today in the city.
The information available to us stated that four students of the institution were reported dead as a result of the collapsed bridge while some were seriously injured. Many students were also said to have been missing.
Though the management of the university confirmed the death of four students and many other injuries, they have nothing to say about those said to be missing.
The bridge was said to have collapsed in the middle of the night, so not much could be done to save the dead and injured students. Students of the institution said they were preparing for exam so it is common for them to stay late in the classrooms and thereby passing over the bridge in the late hours of a day.
Many concerned people are started to condemn the university authority for erecting or allowing somebody to erect such a cheap and weak bridge for use inside a university campus which they believe suppose to know better. The people were asking where were their many engineering academics (professors and doctors in mechanical and civil engineering) that they could not build a strong and modern bridge for the use of the university community?
Meanwhile, the management of the institution has announced the closure of the school. This decision might have been taken to prevent students protest as a result of the incident. The school will remain closed for the next two weeks.
