NBC Visit Great FM 94.5 Station, Pledge Support To Achieve It Aim
OAU's Great FM 94.5 host a delegates from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) who has come visiting as part of routine check on the campus radio station.
The NBC delegate on arrival mid hours of yesterday were welcome into the OAU Campus Radio Station by the studio team leader Professor Lade Adeyanju.
After a series of moving around the radio station the NBC delegates which were lead by Mr Raphael Akpan were taken to the university Vice Chancellor office by Professor Adeyanju for briefing.
Welcoming the delegates into his office, the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Eyitayo Ogunbodede call for more support from NBC, noting that though the organization have been supporting the Great FM 94.5 these past years especially for helping the university establish a radio station, a kind that is capable of operating as teaching and learning studio.
The VC made the delegates to realise that this is the time the institution will need their support more as the school is in an advance stage of commencing some programmes in media studies. He said the school was working with Mr. Biodun Shobanjo an advertising and marketing communication expert who he said is providing them with good platform for the programme to land on when commence to meet both academic standard and the industry requirements.
Professor Eyitayo stated further that the station would contribute immensely to the quality of the academic programmes that the institution will provide when the said programmes commence, saying the students will have first hand practical experience of radio broadcasting. He reveals that the institution is in look out for the best hand in the industry to make the staffs of the programme.
While responding the leader of the delegates from NBC Mr. Raphael Akpan commend the OAU for the way they have been running the Great FM 94.5 studio. He said they were happy to see they were conducting the affairs of the studio according to the rules and regulations for the establishment of a radio station in Nigeria.
Mr. Akpan then assured the Vice Chancellor that NBC will do everything within it scope of operation to make sure that the institution achieve it aim of starting new programmes in media studies.
National Broadcasting Commission is the body which the Federal Government of Nigeria shouldered with the responsibilities of licensing and regulating the country media businesses. It is one of their duties to routinely visit to all existing media stations in Nigeria in order to have first hand information whether they adhere to the rules and regulations of running a media company in Nigeria.
Great FM 94.5 is the campus radio station of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. It's operation license was granted about twenty years ago. Since it start operation it has grown tremendously. It can be listen to on radio set and online. The FM radio station have application on Google store which it fans can download to listen to it anytime.
