The First Technical University, Ibadan, Oyo State remain the only known  technical university as at the time this article was been put together.

The institution is engineering and technology focus and that is the main reason why at just two years of it existence (established in 2017) the school was able to make seven engineering courses up and running.

If you are one of the prospective students seeking admission into this Oyo State owned tertiary institution, some of the engineering and technology disciplines you can apply for are listed below.

Note: it was revealed that the foundation courses for all the programmes are the same.

Each of the programmes above runs for five years leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering.

Admission Requirements

For a student to be considered for admission to undergraduate degree of any of the above mentioned engineering programme he must have five credit passes from either
  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/NECO or
  • General Certificate in Education Examination (GCE)

The five credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or Geography or Biology and it must not be at more than two sittings.

A student must also pass Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after which he must also pass the First Technical University  post UTME, making the required Cut-Off Mark for his chosen engineering programme.

Admissions are also granted those seeking enrollment for any of the above programmes through direct entry.
