Students of KwaZulu-Natal University Staging a Peaceful March Against All Forms of Violence On Their Campuses |
The management said the action is necessary to allow the staffs and the students of the institution to pay last respect to the decease and to allow the proceeding in honour of Zondi who was said to have been killed by his friend on an allegation that he was a zombie and was practicing witchcraft.
According to the management, they hoped the academic suspension would also allowed students and staffs to meet with their families, seek assistance and encourage one another and above all ,it will permit them to stage a peaceful march against all forms of violence on all the campuses of University of KwaZulu-Natal and in the society at large. There was also a decision that the Executive Management Committee (EMC) would meet with the newly elected student leaders and the university stakeholders to delibrate on the matter and seek for a way to prevent such incident in the future.
Meanwhile, the students on all the campuses of KZN University has held a moment of silence for the decease today after which a peaceful march was staged to condemn all forms of violence on all the school campuses. The peaceful march was in response to the called by the University Corporate Relation Division (CRD) which said all students and staffs should go out en-masse to demonstrate against all act of killing and violence on their campuses.
All academic programmes are expected to resume on Tuesday 15 October 2019.
