Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) Engineering Courses and Admission Requirements


Browse the list of all engineering programmes on offer at Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Presently ABUAD runs seven engineering courses with hope to add more in the future. Each of the seven courses is taught within four Departments of the Faculty of Engineering for a period of five years leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) at undergraduate level.

The seven courses as approved and accredited by both National University Commission (NUC) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) are listed below.


Admission Requirements

There are two ways by which an applicant can gain admission to study any of the above courses in as much as he satisfy the admission requirements.
  1. Through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this include Pre-degree programme which qualify students to be admitted into 100 level and
  2. Through Direct Entry, including JUPEB and IJMBE which qualifies students to be admitted to 200 level.

Indirect Entry (UTME)
For a student to be considered for admission to undergraduate degree through UTME (1) above, he must have five credit passes from either
  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/(NECO)
  • General Certificate Examination (GCE)
The five credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or Geography or Biology and it must not be at more than two sittings.

A student must pass Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

UTME Subjects: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry


The student must also pass the Niger Delta University (NDU) post UTME, making the required Cut-Off Mark for his chosen engineering programme.

Direct Entry Admission
Holders of the following results would be considered for an admission provided he make the minimum scores required

  • GCE Advance Level (A/L)
  • JUPEB
  • IJMBE
  • National Diploma and 
  • Higher National Diploma

It is also required of a student to pass one or two combination of the three examinations above before he could be considered for an admission by direct entry.
