Kano State, the largest city in Nigeria in term of population is home to no private Polytechnic. The only polytechnic institution in the state is owned by the state government and it was established in 1975 during the reign of the Military Governor Colonel Sami Bello
The establishment of the school was about 6 years after the creation of the State. Kano State was founded in 1969. Fifty-one years after the state was founded it is still having one polytechnic though there were twenty-one tertiary institutions in the state including four accredited universities.
