Niger State, since it was founded in 1976 has been able to get three functioning polytechnics (this number is valid at the time of writing this post). One is owned and funded by the Nigerian Federal Government, the second is owned and managed by the state government while the third one is own by a private organization.
The first polytechnic to be established in Niger State was in 1977 just a year after the creation of the State. The second one, a property of Niger State government was also founded same year and that mean just a year after Niger state was created it could already boost to have two running polytechnics. The two goverment owned polytechnics were formed when the Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako was the military governor of the state.
Below is listed the three polytechnics in Niger State.
