Teaching Mechanical Engineering at Osun State University, Oshogbo started since the inception of the school in 2007. The programme is designed to expose students to the basic and the advance practice of the Mechanical Engineering as well as taken them through laboratory and industrial training so as to equipped them with necessary skills and knowledge capable of facing engineering challenges in different sector of the economy and thereby come up with best solution to the problems.
Studying Mechanical Engineering at UNIOSUN will mould students in such a way as to be able to design and produce new components, machines and equipment and to be able to troubleshoot, repair and maintain existing ones using safe, efficient, cost effective and standard engineering method.
Mechanical Engineering at Osun State University is a five (5) year programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) on the completion of the study. The programme is approved by the National University Commission (NUC) and fully accredited by COREN.
Application to study Mechanical Engineering at UNIOSUN must either be as JAMB's UTME candidates or DIRECT ENTRY candidates.
UTME Candidates
Students must have minimum of credit passes in five O/L subjects from:- WASSCE: West African Senior School Certificate of Examination
- GCE: General Certificate of Education or
- SSCE: Senior Secondary Certificate of Examination
- Physics
- Mathematic
- English Language and
- Chemistry
- Plus one of the following:
- Biology
- Data Processing
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Agricultural Science
- Geography
- Metal Work
The students must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark for the UTME.

They must also sit for and pass the Osun State University post UTME making the Cut-Off mark for the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Direct Entry Candidates
For a direct entry applicant to be considered for an admission to study Mechanical Engineering at Osun State University, he must have the following:
GCE A/L: at least passes from two subjects (Physics and Mathematics) to be considered for 200 levels
National Diploma (ND): Upper credit in relevant engineering programmes to be considered for 200 level.
IJMB and JUPEB: minimum required score must be made to be considered for admission to 200 level of the regular programme.
Higher National Diploma (HND): Upper credit in relevant engineering programmes to be considered for 300 level.
UNIOSUN Pre-degree programme is accepted to study Mechanical Engineering, but minimum entry requirements score must be made to be admitted to 100 level.
All these plus the credit passes in five O/L subjects as listed above.
