OAU Civil Engineering and Entry Requirements

OAU civil engineering entry requirements

Civil Engineering is one of the few programmes that started the Faculty of Technology of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife in 1962.

The programme was introduced and is designed to train engineers  capable of analysing, designing, constructing and maintaining physical facilities in our society for the purpose of making life easier and making our environment beautiful. Some of the physical facilities in mentioned here include but not limited to structural systems, transportation system, water supply, wastewater systems.

The Civil Engineering programme at Obafemi Awolowo University is planned in such a way that by the time students finish their study they would have been equipped with knowledge in structural analysis and structural design; surveying and highway engineering; soil mechanics and foundation engineering; water systems designs which include but not limited to water works, dams, wastewater works and various hydraulic systems.

To achieve this, students are subjected to intense theoretical class lectures, laboratories practical training and the Student Industrial Work Experience Schemes (SIWES).  The curriculum of the programme follows the National University Commission's (NUC's) Benchmark for Academic Standard and so the following course and other are taught the student of the Department:

  • Engineering Drawing
  • Surveying
  •  Thermodynamics
  •  Engineering Mechanics
  • Workshop Technology
  •  Applied Electricity
  •  Strength of Materials
  •  Geology
  •  Materials for Civil Engineering Construction,

Courses in structures, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering and transportation are also taught students.

Listed below are the minimum entry requirements to study for BSc Civil Engineering at OAU Ile-Ife. This include the O'level and JAMB/UTME subject combination.
