Studying Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) equipped students with skill to research, design and develop new agricultural tools, machines and equipments and to improve the existing ones to help grow and improve agricultural practices thereby enhance food security in our society and the world at large.

The Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering  FUTMINNA curriculum cover the area of plant and livestock farming  engineering and of applying engineering principles to improve biological natural resources (Bioresources).

FUTMINNA established Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering back in1986 as Department of Agricultural Engineering to train students on how to integrate engineering science with applied biological sciences to solve series of problems involving plants, animals and our natural environment. 

To fulfill this objective, the department provides training facilities which include but not limited to conducive classrooms, various well equipped laboratories, electronics and conventional library, workshops and highly qualified academic and non academic staff.

Admission Requirements

Admission process to study Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) is by either:

  • Ordinary Level (O'level) Application or 
  • Direct Entry Application


O'level Application

Secondary School Certificate

To apply to study for BEng Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Minna using Ordinary Level results, an applicant must have five credit passes in five subjects which must include:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Chemistry
  • Physics and any one of 
  • Technical Drawing
  • Pure Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Geography
  • Agricultural Science

The five (5) credit passes must be at one sitting from either one of the:

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or
  • Senior School Certificate Examination or
  • General Certificate of Education

FUTMINNA Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering accept six (6) credit or more passes if from two sittings from one or two of the above examinations:


JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination

Having met the O'level minimum entry requirements to study Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Minna, an applicant must sit for, pass and make the JAMB/UTME cut off mark.

Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) Post UTME

An applicant who is using O'level results to sought for admission must participate in the FUTMINNA coordinated Post UTME, making the cut off mark for the Department of Agricultural and Bioresources  Engineering.


FUTMINNA Pre Degree Programme

Federal University of Technology, Minna will consider applicant who have participated in the Pre-Degree programme for admission to study Agricultural and Bioresources  Engineering provided the applicant make the required points of mark plus the O'level minimum entry requirements.

Ordinary Level (O'level) and Pre-Degree programme qualified an applicant a placement to 100 level of the programme.


DIRECT Entry Applications

Holder of the following qualifications will be considered for admission to 200 level or 300 level of the Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at FUTMINNA.

GCE A/L: Good passes in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry

National Diploma (ND): Upper Credit in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering or other relevant engineering programmes from government approved institution.

Higher National Diploma (HND): Upper Credit in Agricultural Engineering or other relevant engineering programmes qualify an applicant to 300 level of the programme.

Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) is a five (5) years programme for those admitted to 100 level leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Honour in Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering on successful completion of the programme. 

The programme is approved by the National University Commission (NUC) and fully accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
