The Department of Chemical Engineering at Federal Polytechnic, Bida is one of the few among the polytechnics in Nigeria. It train students on basic principles of designing and developing processes for the production of chemicals, pharmaceutical, food products and fuels. Their students are also imparted with knowledge on how to work in team of other engineers to design and develop chemical manufacturing plants, equipment and tools.
Below are the minimum entry requirements to study for the ND and HND Chemical Engineering at Federal Polytechnic, Bida, plus the O'level and JAMB's UTME subjects combinations.

The five O'level credit passes must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following examination qualifications
Senior Secondary Certificate Education (SSCE)
West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
General Certificate of Education (GCE) or
National Technical Certificate
JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Applicants must also participate in the Federal Polytechnic, Bida coordinated post UTME screening and make the cut off mark for the Department of Chemical Engineering as would be dictated.
