Civil Engineering as programme is taught at a National Diploma (ND) and a Higher National Diploma (HN) levels. Both degree options are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The Department of Civil Engineering, Polytechnic Ibadan teaches students how to design, build and maintain physical environmental structures such as building, road, dam, sewage system and more.
Listed below is the minimum entry requirements to study for both the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma of Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic Ibadan including the ordinary level (O'level) and JAMB's subjects combination.

The five O'level credit passes must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of the following examination qualifications
Senior Secondary Certificate Education (SSCE)
West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
General Certificate of Education (GCE) or
National Technical Certificate
JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Polytechnic Ibadan Post UTME Screening
Applicants must also participate in the Polytechnic Ibadan coordinated post UTME screening and make the cut off mark for the Department of Civil Engineering as would be dictated.
Note: candidates must have chosen the Polytechnic Ibadan as their first choice.
