JAMB's UTME Candidates
Minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects which must include:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry and one of
- Further Mathematics
- Technical Drawing
- Data Processing
- Geography
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
The five subjects which must not be more than at two sittings should be from one or two of the following examinations:
- West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)
JAMB's coordinated UTME
Students must sit for, pass and make cut off mark for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Edo State University organised post UTME screening.

Direct Entry Candidates
Edo State University accept the under listed qualifications for direct entry into 200 level at the Department of Chemical Engineering:
- General Certificate of Education (GCE A'Level): good pass in at least two subjects, Mathematics and Physics.
- National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering programme
- Higher National Diploma (HND): minimum of upper credit in relevant engineering programme
- Interim Joint Matriculation Boatd Examinations (IJMBE) and
- Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB)
All direct entry applicant must satisfy all O'level entry requirements to be considered for an admission .
On completion of the programme, Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Chemical Engineering is awarded to successful students.
