Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye is one of the universities where computer engineering is taught in Nigeria. But instead of awarding students Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in computer engineering just like some other universities in Nigeria on completion of the five (5) years programme, the Department award Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honour in Computer Engineering.

The course is taught to prepare students for a future professional career in such fields as Business Systems Analyst, Software Designer and Developer, Computer Security Analyst, Hardware System Designer, Database Developer and so on. The BSc course at Olabisi Onabanjo University provide students with solid foundation on which higher  academic degree could be built.

To achieve the above, aside series of classroom lectures, Department of Computer Engineering do engage it's students on regular laboratory practical work and often send them on industrial training.

Listed below are the minimum entry requirements for admission to undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering at OOU including for the UTME and direct entry applicants and JAMB subjects combination.


Entry Requirements

O'level/UTME Candidates 

Five (5) O'level subjects with minimum of credit passes which must include:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Physics
  • Chemistry plus one of
  • Technical Drawing
  • Further Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Geography or 
  • A Relevant Trade Subjects such as
  • Data Processing 

The five subjects must be at not more than two sitting from one or two of the following examination qualifications

  • West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
  • NABTEB

JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

O'level/UTME candidates must sit for, pass and make the cut off mark for UTME. He must also participate in Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) coordinated post UTME screening making the Department of Computer Engineering cut off mark.

JAMB Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • English Language and 
  • Chemistry

Direct Entry Candidates

The Department of Computer Engineering OOU accept these under listed qualifications from direct entry candidates.

  • General Certificate of Education, Advance Level (GCE A'Level): credit pass in Mathematics and Physics.
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credits in relevant engineering courses
  • Higher National Diploma (HND): upper credits in relevant engineering programme
  • Joint Unified Preliminary Examination Board JUPEB: 
Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye also consider holders of pre-degree qualification for admission to 100 level of Computer Engineering.

All applicants seeking admission through direct entry must provide  O'level result as stated above. They are admitted to 200 level of course.

Computer Engineering at OOU is accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
