The course is taught to impart students with basic knowledge needed in the study, design, development and maintenance of computer hardware and software.
Computer Engineering is available as a National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programme at MAPOLY.
Listed below are the minimum entry requirements to study for both the ND and HND Computer Engineering at MAPOLY including the WAEC and JAMB UTME subjects combination.
National Diploma (ND) Entry Requirements
Credit passes in Five (5) subjects obtained at not more than two sittings from one or two of these examinations:
- West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
- Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Examination (GCE) or
- NABTEB
WAEC O'LEVEL Subjects Combination
The five subjects must include:
- English Language,
- Mathematics
- Physics and
- Chemistry and one of
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Basic Electricity/Electronics,
- Biology/Agric. Science
- Geography
- Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work
- Computer Studies
- Data Processing
An applicant must also sit for, pass and make cut off mark for UTME and MAPOLY post-UTME screening exercise for the Department of Computer Engineering.
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and
- English Language
Higher National Diploma (HND) Entry Requirements
- An applicant must satisfy the minimum O'level entry requirements for National Diploma (ND) in Computer engineering.
- Applicant must have at least Lower Credit in the Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant ND programmes from MAPOLY or other government accredited institutions
- An applicant must have completed the one year post National Diploma relevant work experience an evidence of which will be required or .
- A Pass at ND level could be considered for an admission provided an applicant have evidence of two (2) or more years post qualification industrial working experience.
- An applicant must request his/her former Institution to send transcripts of his/her academic record to the Registrar, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
Note: MAPOLY make will not registered register any candidate before receipt of the academic transcript.
National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Computer Engineering at MAPOLY is accredited in Nigeria by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
