Food Technology revolve around application of technology to food handling. It deal with the utilisation of science to the selection, processing, preservation, packaging, distribution and use of save food.
Students who are admitted to the five (5) years programme at the University of Ibadan (UI) are taught in the basic science and technology of food preservation, food processing, food packaging, food distribution and the like. And so, after earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Food Technology, a graduate of the programme can go to seek for a paid employment or establish a food processing company.

O'level UTME Candidates
The University of Ibadan, accept five (5) credit passes from one sitting or six (6) credit passes from two sittings in the following O'level subjects:

- Physics and one or two of
- Technical Drawing
- Further Mathematics
- Geography
- Economics
- Biology
- Agricultural Science and
- Metal Work
- West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB.
JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics and
- Chemistry
Direct Entry Candidates
- General Certificate of Education (GCE A'Level): pass in Physics and Mathematics
- National Diploma (ND): Upper Credit in Food Technology or other relevant engineering programmes from government approved polytechnic or other higher institutions of learning.
- Higher National Diploma (HND): upper credit as in ND.
