School of Engineering Technology form an important part of the eight schools that constitute the Federal Polytechnic, Oko. The school parade six departments of which Civil Engineering is one of them, awarding National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) to students on the successful completion of each of the programmes.
Below are listed the minimum entry requirements accepted by the School of Engineering Technology, Federal Polytechnic, Oko to study for ND and HND Civil Engineering. This include the WAEC and JAMB's subjects combination.
ND Entry Requirements
WAEC Subjects Combination
Mathematics
English Language
Physics
Chemistry
and any two subjects from:
Biology/Agricultural Science
Technical Drawing
Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity,
Wood Work
Metal Work,
Further Mathematics
Geography,
Economics/Commerce.
The five credit passes must be from one or two of these following exam qualifications.
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB
JAMB Subjects Combination
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry/Technical Drawing and
- English Language
HND Civil Engineering Entry Requirements
- National Diploma: minimum of lower credit from Federal Polytechnic, Oko or other government approved education institutions.
- Evidence of mandatory post-ND one (1) year industrial training.
- ND: Pass with minimum CGPA of 2.00 – 2.49 will be considered for an admission if with industrial work experience of not lesser than two (2) years.
- O'level results as stated above must be provided.
Note: ND and HND are two years programme with a year break for industrial training in between.
