Civil Engineering: ND Entry Requirements 

Listed below are minimum entry requirements to study Civil Engineering at Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri (FPNO)


WAEC Subjects Combination

Five (5) O'level credit passes from
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics and 
  • English Language 
  • and any two subjects from
  • Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry 
  • Technical Drawing, 
  • Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, 
  • Auto Mechanics
  • Metal Work 
  • Further Mathematics, 
  • Geography 
  • Economics/Commerce. 
The five credit passes must be at not more than two sittings from one or two of: 
  • West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
  • Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
  • NABTEB

JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination

An applicant must sit for, pass and make cut off mark for JAMB's UTME and post -UTME screening for the Department of Civil Engineering.


JAMB Subjects Combination

  • English Language
  • Mathematics 
  • Physics and
  • Chemistry.  


HND Civil Engineering Entry Requirements

National Diploma (ND): minimum of lower credit with CGPA 2.50 from Federal Polytechnic, Nekede Owerri (FPNO) or other government approved institutions. 

Evidence of mandatory one (1) year post-ND industrial attachment. 

Applicants with pass could be considered for an admission but must be with at least two years cognate working experience and the pass must not be lower than CGPA 2.00.

Holders of pass from institutions other than FPNO will not be considered for an admission.
