Entry Requirements for Pharmacy University of Ghana

This page display in details the minimum entry requirements, including the cut off point to study for  Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm), University of Ghana. The entry requirements is for the prospective senior high school students. 

Pharmacy is an important medical science courses. It is a science or practice of the chemistry of drug, preparation, dispensing and use for the prevention and treatment of disease.  

The discipline is indispensable in the medical science field, it go hand in hand with medicine. While medicine diagnose illnesses on a patient and administer treatment, pharmacy deals with medication that treats him, ensuring that they are suitable and effective.   

Pharmacy is one of the courses on offer at University of Ghana, College of Health Sciences and is accredited by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana. UG is one of the seven universities that carry full accreditation of the council.  


Minimum Entry Requirements for Pharmacy at University of Ghana  

The minimum entry requirements listed here is meant for the WASSCE/SSSCE candidates with few reference to the candidates with higher qualifications. 


Senior High School Candidates.

School certificate holders must have minimum of credit pass (C6) in the following: 

Core

  • English Language 
  • Mathematics
  • Integrated Science 

Electives

  • Chemistry
  • Biology and either one of 
  •  Physics or 
  • Mathematics 

In addition to the above.candidates shall be required to pass core Social Studies at least at Grade E. 

The maximum cut off point demanded by the Department of Pharmacy University of Ghana from the above result is 8. 

For the International Students some of the acceptable qualifications include but not limited to: 

  • The International Baccalaureate (IB) 
  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) 
  • General Certificate of Education (GCE). 
  • The American Grades 12 and 13 examinations..

The admission shall be into the level 100 of the programme.

Having been considered for a provisional admission, students could be called for an interview or qualifications examination.  

The point mentioned above change yearly depending on the competition (the number of applicants to the space available for admission)

Pharmacy as a course at the University of Ghana is a four (4) years degree programme leading to the award of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) on successful completion of the studies.
