Agricultural Engineering and Admission Requirements | LASUSTECH

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) is one of the many institution where Agricultural Engineering is offered as one of the taught course in Nigeria. But while other University institutions award Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree, it awards Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree on successful completion o the five (5) years course. 

Agricultural Engineering is different from Agricultural Science. The latter is the science of growing crops and rearing of livestock while the former deal with the designing, development and management of tools, equipments and machinery used to increase the quality and quantity of the latter including but not limited to silo tractor, ploughs, seed planters, crops harvester. 

Listed below are the entry requirements for the secondary school leavers (O/level holders) and direct entry applicants (advanced qualifications holders) to study for the undergraduate degree programme at the Faculty of Engineering and  Technology. This includes the O/Level and JAMB subjects combination. 

Entry Requirements O/Level Applicants 

Five O/level credit passes in the following subjects: 
  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Chemistry 
  • Physics and one of 
  • Biology/Agricultural Science 
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Economics 
  • Geography  

JAMB UTME 

Students must make cut off mark for JAMB coordinated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations for the Department of Agricultural Engineering 

JAMB Subjects Combinations 

  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry  

Directs Entry Admission Requirements LASUSTECH 

Plus the minimum five O/level credit passes as stated above, candidates seeking admission by direct entry must have post secondary school qualifications which include but not limited to. 

  • GCE A/Level: God pase in three subjects especially in Physics and Mathematics. 
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering courses.
  • NCE Technical: good grades in relevant disciplines. 
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)  lower or upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 
Holders of ND and NCE Technical will always be considered to 200 level of the courses while holders of HND or equipment could be considered to 300 levels

The Agricultural Engineering Engineering as a course  at LASUSTECH is accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
