A team of Inspector from the National Council for Higher Education, Uganda paid a visit to the Kabale University School of Medicine (KABSOM).
The purpose of the visit which took place on 21st of June has to do with inspecting the available medical facilities for teaching and learning and the assessment of the existing offered medical programmes in readiness to start other new ones.
This visit occured just two weeks after a series of meeting between the official of National Council for Higher Education lead by the Executive Director (ED), Professor Mary J.N Okwakol, the Vice Chancellors and other stakeholders in the universities and other degree award institutions in Uganda, to rob mind on how the programmes accreditation exercises could be improved and presented better.
If this visit is successful, it means Kabale University will in future have more varieties of medical science programmes to offer both national and international students.
The medical science programmes on offer presently at undergraduate level at Kabale University School of Medicine are: Bachelor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine (Completion), Bachelor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine (Direct & Ordinary Diploma Entry), Bachelor of Environmental Health Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (both Direct and Diploma Entry), Bachelor of Nursing Science (Diploma Holders), Bachelor of Nursing Science (Direct Entrants), Diploma in Anaesthesia, Diploma in Environmental Health Science, Diploma in Health Services Management and Diploma in Medical Records Management
The team from the National Council for Higher Education, Uganda were received by Professor Joy Constance Kwesiga.
