The announcement for the re-accreditation was made public of the 25th of September by a publication on the university website and it pointed to the school bachelor's degree in engineering science.
For Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET to have approved re-accreditation of Sweet Briar College's Bachelor of Engineering Science, it means the college have successfully satisfied all the criteria required have the program approved and this includes but not limited to facilities available for teaching and learning, number and qualifications of faculty members, the program curriculum and students outcome.
It is reported that the College’s Margaret Jones Wyllie ’45 Engineering Program was created in 2004 and has been accredited continually by ABET since 2009
Engineering Accreditation Commission an arm of ABET and it accredit college and university's engineering and engineering technology at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree levels to make sure programs meet quality standard that make graduates ready to enter global workforce.
It is a believe that this accreditation will further bolster the reputation of Sweet Briar College’s Margaret Jones Wyllie ’45 Engineering Program. ABET accredited engineering program is required for engineers for further education at graduate school, to get registered as professional engineers and in some states to secure a job.
