B.Sc. Computer Engineering Degree Programme Entry Requirements

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, OAU Ile-Ife granted admission to study Computer Engineering to two types of applicants:

  • Ordinary Level (O'LEVEL) Applicants and
  • DIRECT Entry Applicants

Ordinary Level (O'level) Applicants

O'level applicants must have at least five credits passes in:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • English Language and one other science subjects which can be:
  • Further Mathematics
  • Technical Drawing
  • Biology
  • Agricultural Science

The five credit passes must not be at more than two sitting from one or two of the following examinations:

  • West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
  • Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or
  • General Certificate of Examination (GCE)

JAMB Coordinated UTME

The Ordinary Level (O'level)  applicants must sit for, pass and make the required cut off mark for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

JAMB Subjects Combination

  • Mathematics
  • Physic
  • Chemistry and
  • English Language

OAU Post UTME Programme

The applicant must also participate in the OAU Ile-Ife coordinated Post UTME programme and make the required cut off mark for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Pre-Degree Programme:

OAU pre degree qualification is consider for admission to study Computer Engineering if the required points is achieved plus the minimum O'level entry requirements.

Direct Entry Applicants Entry Requirements

OAU Ile-Ife accept this following qualifications to apply as a direct entry candidate to study for Computer Engineering.

General Certificate Examination Advance Level (GCE A/L): Physics, Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (or Physics, Chemistry, Pure and Applied Mathematics), or approved equivalent qualifications.

National Diploma (ND): Department of Computer Science and Engineering accept Upper Credit in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or other relevant engineering programme.

Higher National Diploma: Upper Credit Computer Science or Computer Engineering or other relevant engineering programmes qualify an applicant to 300 level of the programme.

O'level applicants and Pre-Degree  are admitted to 100 level of the Computer Engineering programme.while those apply through direct entry are either admitted to 200 level or 300 level of the programme depending on the qualification presented.

Computer Engineering for O'level applicants is a five (5) years degree programme at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honour in Computer Engineering. The programme is approved by the National University Commission (NUC) and accredited by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
