On this page is the list of all the universities where a Diploma, National Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma qualifications in Civil Engineering could be earned in South Africa.

The list includes only the universities which are accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)  and which are deem to have meet the Educational Requirement for Registration as a Candidate and Professional  Engineering Technician.

  • Vaal University of Technology: Diploma, Advance Diploma, Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD)
  • Tshwane University of Technology offers Building Science: National Diploma (ND) and Diploma.
  • University of South Africa (UNISA): Diploma and Advance Diploma
  • Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State: Diploma
  • Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT): Diploma and in Extended Curriculum Program
  • Durban University of Technology (DUT): National Diploma (ND) and Diploma
  • Cape Peninsula University: Diploma and Advance Diploma 
  • Walter Suisulu University: Diploma, and Advance Diploma 
To earn a Diploma qualification take up to minimum of three (3) years: four semesters of attendance at the University together with two semesters of appropriate work integrated learning while the Advance Diploma study take just only a year to be completed, both on full time study mode.

All National Diploma (ND) programmes are in the process of phasing out and so in the next few years no new National Diploma qualification will be awarded.
