This course is run as Mechanical Engineering Technology. An Engineering Technology because it is more of practical and hand-on-work than theoretical and so for you on this page are the minimum entry requirements accepted by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FENGT), Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) to study ND and HND Mechanical Engineering Technology.
The minimum entry requirements include for the O'level results plus the WAEC and JAMB's subjects combination.
National Diploma Minimum Entry Requirements
Stated here is the minimum entry requirements accepted to study ND Mechanical Engineering Technology at RUGIPO
WAEC Subjects Combination
Five O'level Credit passes which must include:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry and any two of the following:
- Biology/Agricultural Science
- Technical Drawing
- Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity
- Auto Mechanics
- Metal Work
- Further Mathematics
- Food and Nutrition
- Geography
- A pass in English Language is accepted.
Or otherwise
- At least passes in Chemistry,
- Biology/Agricultural Science/Food
- Nutrition and
- A credit pass in English Language.
The five credit passes must not be from more than two sittings from one or combination of two of the following O'level examination qualifications:
- West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)
- Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE)
- General Certificate of Education (GCE O'level) or
- NABTEB
JAMB's Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination
You must sit for, pass and make the polytechnic cut off mark for JAMB coordinated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and post UTME screening exercise for the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo.

HND Mechanical Engineering Technology
Study for Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) eligible students to course options in:
- Manufacturing! Production Technology and
- Power Plant
HND Entry Requirements
The entry requirements to study Mechanical Engineering Technology at RUGIPO are:
- National Diploma: Minimum of Lower Credit in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineerimg programmes.
- Evidence of mandatory one year post-ND students industrial attachment must be provided.
- A pass in Mechanical Engineering from RUGIPO is accepted but with work experience not lesser than two years.
- O'level results as stated above must be provided.
