Mechatronics Engineering and Entry Requirements | LASUSTECH

Mechatronic Engineering is one of the engineering courses with which the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) started the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

It is an engineering of mechanical, computer, electronic and electrical combine together. The discipline focus on the development of automated machines and equipment including robot.

Studying Mechatronics Engineering at LASUSTECH earned a student a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree and equipped him with skill to understand and to design simple and complex automated products and technologies. 


Listed below are the entry requirements for the secondary school leavers (O/level holders) and direct entry applicants (advanced qualifications holders). This includes the O/Level and JAMB subjects combination. 

Entry Requirements O/Level Applicants 

Five O/level credit passes in the following subjects: 
  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Chemistry 
  • Physics and one of 
  • Biology
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Agricultural Science 
  • Economics 
  • Geography  

JAMB UTME 

Students must make cut off mark for JAMB coordinated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations for the Department of Mechatronics Engineering 

JAMB Subjects Combinations 

  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry  

Directs Entry Admission Requirements LASUSTECH 

Plus the minimum five O/level credit passes as stated above, candidates seeking admission by direct entry must have post secondary school qualifications which include but not limited to. 

  • GCE A/Level: God pase in three subjects especially in Physics and Mathematics. 
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering courses.
  • NCE Technical: good grades in relevant disciplines. 
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)  lower or upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 
Holders of ND and NCE Technical will always be considered to 200 level of the courses while holders of HND or equipment could be considered to 300 levels

The Mechatronics Engineering as a course  at LASUSTECH is accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
