Engineering Courses and Entry Requirements | LASUSTECH

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) is an upgraded Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH). It was officially recognised as a university institution in 2022 when the certificate of recognition was formally presented to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State and in 2022/23 section the newly created LASUSTECH started given admission to students.

The Faculty of Engineering Technology at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) commenced academic activities with the teaching of six engineering programmes as listed below. 


Engineering Courses LASUSTECH 

  • Civil and Construction Engineering 
  • Mechanical Engineering 
  • Mechatronics Engineering 
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering and 
  • Agricultural Engineering  

Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree is the qualification awarded on each of the engineering programme on successful completion. Each of the courses is a five years programme to students admitted to 100 level.   

Listed below are the entry requirements for the secondary school leavers (O/level holders) and direct entry applicants (advanced qualifications holders). This includes the O/Level and JAMB subjects combination. 

Entry Requirements O/Level Applicants 

Five O/level credit passes in th following subjects: 
  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Chemistry 
  • Physics and one of 
  • Biology
  • Technical Drawing 
  • Applied Mathematics 
  • Agricultural Science 
  • Economics 
  • Geography  

JAMB UTME 

Students must make cut off mark for JAMB coordinated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations for the Department chose.  

JAMB Subjects Combinations 

  • Mathematics 
  • English Language 
  • Physics 
  • Chemistry  
The above subjects combination works for any of the courses listed above. 

Directs Entry Admission Requirements LASUSTECH 

Plus the minimum O/level five credit passes as stated above, candidates seeking admission by direct entry must have post secondary school qualifications which include but not limited to. 

  • GCE A/Level: God pase in three subjects especially in Physics and Mathematics. 
  • National Diploma (ND): upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 
  • NCE Technical: good grade in relevant disciplines. 
  • Higher National Diploma (HND)  lower or upper credit in relevant engineering courses. 
All the engineering courses listed above are accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
