Software and Computer Engineering University of Ibadan UI
To study Software Engineering in any universities in Nigeria, students must have:

  • Minimum of five o/level credit passes in: Mathematics (compulsory); English Language (compulsory); Physics (compulsory); Chemistry (compulsory) and one of Biology, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Metal Work, Economics, Geography or Data Processing
  • Plus making UTME cut of mark and 
  • Post UTME cut off mark
In the University of Ibadan, Software Engineering is not among the taught undergraduate programmes. Thus a prospective student wishing to study the programme at undergraduate degree level cannot do so in UI. He has to look elsewhere. He can only apply to do Computer Science, a programme which lasted a duration of  four (4) years for JAMBITES or three (3) years for Direct Entry Candidates and on completion earned him BSc certificate in Computer Science.

MSc Software Engineering University of Ibadan.

Though this programme is said to be an engineering one, but it is not taught in the Faculty of Technology as other Engineering programmes such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Petroleum Engineering and others. It is taught in the Faculty of Science.

To be eligible to do MSc Software Engineering in UI, you must have completed your first degree programme, with minimum of 2nd Class Lower in related science or engineering course i.e Computer Science and Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UI or any other recognised universities or higher institutions of learning. The applicant must also have done yearly NYSC programme.

An applicant with HND but with upper credit could be considered for the programme in a much as he have an O/L minimum entry requirements as stated above.

Note: if you are from another universities your O/L result must be six credit passes at minimum of two sittings or five credit passes at a sit. Five credit passes at two sittings will not be accepted. 

If you want a first degree qualification in Software Engineering (BSc/BTech/BEng in Software Engineering) and you want a university in Nigeria that award the degree.
