Engineering programme started at University of Ibadan (U.I) in 1971 and that was about 21 years after the establishment of the institution. Petroleum Engineering pioneered all other engineering programmes at the university.


Today, the University of Ibadan (U.I) offers eight (8) engineering and technology programmes, preparing students for future engineering and technological career and challenges.

As outstanding as the engineering programme at University of Ibadan is, it was rated 6th best in Africa and 2nd best in Nigeria according to Times Higher Education's World University Ranking 2020.

Below is the list of all taught engineering courses at the prestigious university school of engineering and technology.

For a student to qualify for admission for any of the programmes which lead to the award of BEng Engineering.

Requirement for Admission into Any of The Programme


A student must have five credit passes from either
West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) or
General Certificate in Education Examination (GCE)

The five credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and either Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics or in some uncommon instances Economics or Biology.

A student must also pass Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and he must also pass the University of Ibadan post UTME, making the required Cut-Off Mark for his chosen engineering programme.
